History of the Lakers

 The Lakers are one of the best Franchises in the history of the NBA. They won an outstanding fifteen titles. They also had some of the best coaches in the history of the game.

            Pat Riley, the Lakers coach from 1982 to 1990 had an overall regular season record of 483 wins and 173 losses. His playoff record was 90 wins and 47 losses. He also won four titles.

            Phil Jackson another possible Hall of Fame coach is the present coach of the Lakers. He coached nine seasons with them and won four titles. Phil had a regular season record of 496 wins and 242 losses. His playoff record was 98 wins and 50 losses.

                        In 1958 the Minneapolis Lakers were moved to Los Angeles, this marked the Los Angeles Lakers first season in the National Basketball Association. In just two years after entering the league the Lakers were able to get to the Finals. They played the Celtics in finals but lost in a dramatic fashion in overtime. The next season the Lakers retuned to the finals but once again lost.

            In 1972 the Los Angeles Lakers won their first title in Los Angeles. Bill Sherman was their coach that year. They flew by the Knicks in the series beating them four games to one winning the Lakers a title. Later the next year the Lakers lost to the Knicks in the championship.
